Who Are You?
By Guest Contributor Watchman Rick
To know who you are, you must first know who God is…
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (James 4:8)
Too many times when we come to a crossroads, or we find ourselves in a desperate situation we cry out to God, “What do I do next?” The Word answers “seek My face…” In our desperation for answers, or to have some circumstance corrected, we become disoriented. We fixate on the situation, difficulty, or problem; and take our eyes off the Problem Solver.
We can become double-minded so easily when we seek God’s Hand and not His Face. The hand of God is awesome and powerful. He can deliver us out of the mess we’re in, but it is only a temporary fix, not a life-changing solution.
That only comes from relationship, which comes through intimacy. When you are intimate with someone, you truly learn who they are, what their heart is, and more importantly how deeply they care for you. Then comes the revelation. That is when you know who God really is in your life.
Once you know Who He is in your life, you discover who you are, and you know all things are possible with God. That is when we begin to walk in His divine purpose, authority, and power. That is when we see our lives change, and see God change the atmosphere around us, wherever we go.
Lord, forgive me for only chasing after Your Hand and Your blessings. I humbly admit my failure and stand in repentance. Thank You for Your grace and Your faithfulness. Give me the grace to fast and to pray, that I may seek Your face.
