“Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly.” (Proverbs 3:18)
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” (Philippians 3:12)
People are magnets. We attract people like ourselves. Happy people at the party are surrounded by other happy people. Sad gloomy people surrounded by other sad gloomy people all occupy a separate area of the same party. In that same way, what you hold onto most tightly will begin to have the strongest hold on you.
Are you fearful? Take fear out of your vocabulary. Stop beginning sentences with, “I’m afraid…” Replace it with, “I’m confident God…” Hold onto confidence.
Are you hopeless? Imagine the best outcome of any situation and set your hope on that. Tell God your hopes. He already knows, but you need to say it out loud. If it’s unspoken, it’s uncommitted.
Is your life in turmoil? You need peace. Peace is not the absence of turmoil, it is living close to God in the middle of the mess. God doesn’t always remove the difficult in life, but He will not abandon you while you go through it. Call out to God in the midst of the worst.
Watchmen see the worst of life – the enemy, the darkness, the evil schemes. And yet, Watchmen are the most hopeful people you will ever meet. Why? Because they know the enemy is defeated, and his schemes are thwarted; God wins.
You will hold onto what you believe, and what you believe will hold onto you. The question is, What do you believe?
Lord, I believe You are my all. I choose to hold onto peace, hope, and trust that You know best and are working that out in my world.
