The Rapture and the Year 3840

The Rapture and the Year 3840

“The end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land! The end is now upon you, and I will unleash my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices.” (Ezekiel 7:3)

…And now, the oft-avoided but frequently contemplated fact – the Rapture may not happen today, or tomorrow, or a thousand years from now. One pastor friend of this scribe has postulated that if there was a sweeping revival, Christ’ return might be delayed. It’s an excellent point, and I hope we get to find out.

The Rapture must be closer than 3840. Aren’t Israel’s enemies knocking at the door? Haven’t they been since Canaan? Isn’t there ample evidence politically, societally, internationally (and sinfully) that the world is teetering on unstable spiritual ground? Wasn’t that true when Paul wrote his second letter to the Thessalonians?

From a biblical Creationist timeline, our 7-10,000 years on earth is a nano-nothing on God’s eternal timeclock. Those who believe some version of the evolutionist’s billions of years theory only strengthen the illustration. Several New Testament writers thought they were living in the last days, including John, the author of Revelation. Mathematically speaking, if Christ returns anytime between now and the year 3840, His return is still closer to my earthly lifetime than it would be to John’s.

The opening verse, clearly in the present tense, was written between 593 and 571 BC, and Ezekiel expected its imminent fulfillment. If Christ does not return by the year 5178, His return will be closer to your life than Ezekiel’s. You get the idea. Jesus will come. Whether in 2018, or 5179, compared to eternity, it’s still ‘soon.’

When Will Jesus Return?

Here it is. The definitive answer. The one you’ve been searching for. The one that will once and for all put the question to rest. He is coming on _________.

Wait, there was no answer! True. I don’t know. Neither do you. Do not walk, run! from anyone who says they do know. Because,

…Jesus doesn’t know either (Matthew 24:36). But it could be today.

Be ready. Or get ready to be ready at a moment’s notice. A moment may be all we have left.

Finish Well.
