Re-Circulate the Saints

Re-Circulate the Saints

Re-Circulate the Saints

“and I most gladly will spend and be entirely spent for your souls…” (2 Cor. 12:15)

It’s time the Church left the church and became the Church.

If 2020 taught us nothing else, it taught the Body of Christ we must reconsider how we do ministry. 20th Century churches invested heavily in buildings, parking, children’s programs, lights, technology, sound systems, and music. And honestly, many needed it. It was time to move beyond a piano, an organ, a lapel mic, and puppets.

We built elaborate buildings and state of the art production facilities to bring the world to us. Now it’s time to get back to being the church, out in the world, where the lost are.

During Oliver Cromwell’s reign, there was a shortage of currency in England. He ordered a committee to search the British Empire for silver. A month later, the committee reported back, “We have searched the Empire in vain seeking to find silver. To our dismay, we found none anywhere except in the cathedrals, where the statues of the saints are made of choice silver.”

Cromwell famously replied, “Let’s melt down the saints and put them into circulation.” Paul addressed the same principle from a Watchman’s perspective in the verse above.

Watchmen, it’s time we get out of our 5000 seat auditoriums and back into the “highways and hedges.” We are the saints, and it’s time to put the Saints back into circulation.

Lord, move us beyond our walls, out of our comfort zones, into the world, back into circulation.
