How Then Shall We Live?
By guest Watchwoman Joanne Arnott
“Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.” (Titus 3:1-2)
In the days we live in, this concept gets harder and harder. We don’t always like or agree with those who are put in leadership, and many do things that go against God and His Word. I think of David and how King Saul hated him trying to kill him, yet, when David had the opportunity to kill King Saul, he wouldn’t do it because he could not lay his hand on ‘God’s anointed one’ and he wouldn’t let anyone else either.
We know we are accountable to God first, but we must trust that the Lord puts kings and rulers in places of leadership for the times and seasons in which we live. We are seeing the Word of God come to life right before our eyes through the Scriptures and have a front row seat to Bible Prophecy being fulfilled. How then are we to live in light of this?
We are to be about our Father’s business doing all that He calls us to do. Speaking evil of no one is a hard thing as we see so much evil in our world and it’s infiltrating every facet of our society, even our churches, and pulpits. Christians are more divided than ever these days. Wouldn’t it be more profitable if we put our focus on Jesus Christ and encourage others and be peaceable, gentle, loving and extend grace as we have been given grace in our salvation?
Our message will be louder and clearer, and our light will shine brighter and have a more significant impact on others as it gets closer to our Lord’s return.
Abba Father, we pray that we would be a light in the darkness, extending beyond ourselves to others what You, through your Son Jesus, would want us to be in these days and times.
