God’s Address on Earth

“Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in so that my house will be full.’” (Luke 14:23)

God’s House. What is God’s House? Where is God’s House? Jesus drove greedy merchants out of the Temple, yelling after them – “You have made My Father’s House a den of thieves!” (John 2:16) When Jesus was a child He went missing. His frantic mother found Him in the Temple. “And He said to them, “Why were you looking for Me? Did you not know that I must be in My Father’s house?” (Luke 2:49) Jesus went to the Temple. Many of us go to a church.

God’s address on Earth is the Church. One day, that will change. In John 14:2, Jesus (referring to Heaven) said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions.” One day we will live with Jesus and His Father in the Father’s house. Until then, we live here.

Is God only in the church or synagogue, or Sunday school classroom, or home Bible study? Is He only at church? No. Watchmen see God busy everywhere, but for now, God is primarily fulfilling His plans on Earth through the Church. Church-supporting ministries like iamawatchman point people to Christ, but we are clear that Christians need a church home.

One day we will all share the Father’s House in Heaven. For now, Watchmen love God’s House on Earth.

Lord, we love and support Your Church. We long for the Father’s House where we will all be together.
