Detached, Not Divided

“The work is demanding and extensive, and we are spread out on the wall, far removed from one another. Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, gather there with us. Our God will fight for us!” (Nehemiah 4:19-20)

We live our own lives. We may see family, classmates, workmates, and other Watchmen occasionally, but most of us live separate lives far removed on the planet.

Many Watchmen serve many cities on many walls. We are often far apart, yet we are all connected. Writers for iamawatchman ministries live in 6 US states and 5 countries, but we share the same ministry and the same King. We serve separate but together; afar but not alone.

There will be a day when Watchmen fellowship together. I’m convinced God has a special party planned in Heaven just for Watchmen. If not, we have all of eternity, I’m sure He can work it into the schedule. Until then, we serve in Florida and Croatia, the Philippines and the Netherlands, North Dakota and South Africa. It’s a large, long, diverse wall. The Watchman in the Philippines may not speak Hindi (he might, he’s smart), but he speaks the same language of God’s love the Watchwoman in Calcutta speaks.

Today, as you pray and witness and write blogs and preach Revelation, remember your brothers and sisters on other walls, in other cities and countries. They pray in different languages and attend other churches, but they know what it means to stand alone and speak for God.

Lord Jesus, I stand in the gap for my brothers and sisters. Strengthen their will. Stir their hearts with compassion. Build up their faith. Give them new words to tell the same story.
