Be Bold and Courageous

Be Bold and Courageous

“If you want milk and honey with your bread, you have to go to the land of the giants.” – Billy Sunday

Boldness and courage are virtues, and few virtues are more lauded in Scripture. The commandment to be bold and courageous is a favored thread woven throughout the tapestry of Scripture. If you are a believer – if you are a Watchman, your ministry must be marked by boldness and courage. This fundamental but often overlooked truth is as self-evident as a basketball game needing baskets.

Certainly, we can dribble and pass and move the basketball about, but it just isn’t basketball without baskets. Watchmen are not living as God’s chosen instruments (2 Tim. 2:21) or bright lights (Matt. 5:14-16) if their prayers, witnessing, giving, and service does not require boldness and courage.

If your spiritual walk is easy, you’re likely on the wrong road. If what you give to the Lord is easily budgeted (your time, energy, service, money), then you need a new budget.

Watchmen, the hour is late, and the need to reach this generation and leave information resources for those not taken in the Rapture is great. We must ask God to amplify our boldness and courage as we sprint toward the finish line. Could it be that God is calling you to lead a new class, witness in new ways, increase your giving, multiply your service, or intensify your prayer life? Let God’s words given through Joshua guide your steps.

Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.” Joshua 1:6-7

If what you are currently doing for the Lord is, for the most part, possible to accomplish by your wisdom and strength, then pray for God to reveal what impossible task He wants to help you accomplish in the future. Consider what radical act of service or giving requires utter reliance on God. These endeavors are the ones that grow our faith and give due honor to God. Watchmen should lead the church in stepping out by faith to accomplish the seemingly impossible for Christ (Phil. 4:13).

In these last days, God is raising up Watchmen to accomplish the impossible. If ministering to others and sharing God’s truth is not your primary focus, then ask God for a new heart (Psalm 51:10) and a new mindset (Romans 12:2). The Rapture and Bema Seat Judgment are coming. Let us push hard to live well and finish well for the glory of God.
